Worshiping Jesus with financial gifts:
Typically when a church talks about giving, the conversation focuses on the amount or the mode. Unfortunately, and inadvertently the message that is heard is, “we want more of your money and here’s how to give it to us”.
Giving is a way to fuel the mission of the church, to support one another, and to renew our city and world. The example of New Testament giving is generous, sacrificial, and cheerful giving as an act of worship and love (2 Cor 8:1-2; 9:1). Giving frees us from the tyranny of consumerism. Giving provides an outlet for compassion. Giving provides us an opportunity to teach our families that money is a servant rather than our master. So, our prayer is that as people of faith we would live faithfully. The Lord gives us the opportunity to proclaim to our neighbors and community His sufficiency and provision. Giving invigorates our devotion to Christ.
At The Well we want to joyfully give of our time, energy and money to the direct service of God not because we are “guilted to” but because we “get to”. (2 Corinthians 9:7, Acts 2:45). Giving Biblically is a heart issue, not a pocketbook one. (Psalm 51:16-17, Mark 12:41-44). God has no need for our stuff, but He desires our affection and our hearts. With that understanding, we invite you to come along side of us in supporting the work and ministry of The Well. We are happily freed up from slavishly maintaining our material goods and recognize that all comes from Him. May we be moved to use all that we have and are to His glory. (Deuteronomy 6:4-5)
The Well is a new church start that is about 70% self-supporting. Our goal is to become a self-supporting ministry by the end of 2012. As a federal and state licensed non-profit, we accept donations and issue tax-deductible receipts. You may give electronically, by mail, or in person on Sunday mornings at Buda Elementary.
